Privacy policy.

Your privacy matters to us — and we'd rather explain what we do with your information in plain English than bury it in legal language. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

01

Who we are

Women's Self-Defence Perth ("WSDP", "we", "us", "our") runs self-defence seminars, corporate workshops, and publishes the book Created By Women Tested On Men. This policy explains how we handle your personal information when you visit our website, contact us, book a seminar, or buy from us.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.

02

What we collect

We only collect information you'd expect us to need:

  • Contact details — your name, email and phone number when you fill in our contact form, book a seminar, or enquire about a workshop.
  • Booking and order details — what you booked or bought, and your delivery address for book orders.
  • Health or injury information — only if you choose to tell us about an injury or condition so we can keep you safe during training.
  • Website usage — general technical information such as your device type, browser, approximate location and the pages you visit.
We don't take your card details. Payments are handled by our secure payment provider — your card number never touches our systems.
03

How we use it

We use your information to reply to your enquiry, confirm and run your booking, send you your order, and keep our records straight. If you've been a customer or asked us about classes, we may also email you about upcoming seminars or related offerings — every email has an unsubscribe link, and we stop the moment you use it.

We also use general website usage information to understand what's working and improve the site.

04

Cookies and website tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technology, including the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, to understand how people find and use our site and to measure whether our advertising is working.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Some parts of the site may not work as smoothly if you do.

05

Advertising platforms

We advertise on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. To show our ads to people like our existing customers, we may share a hashed (scrambled) version of contact details such as an email address or phone number with those platforms. Hashing means the platform can match an existing account without us handing over readable personal details.

We never sell your personal information, and we never share it for anyone else's marketing.

06

Who else sees your information

We share your information only with the services that make our business run — our payment provider, our email and booking platforms, our website host, and delivery services for book orders. Each only receives what they need to do their job.

Some of these providers may store information overseas. We otherwise disclose personal information only where the law requires it.

07

Keeping it safe, and how long we keep it

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep it only as long as we need it — for our relationship with you and to meet our record-keeping obligations — then delete or de-identify it.

08

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct anything that's wrong, or delete it. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time, and you can ask us to stop contacting you altogether.

Just email us — we'll action it, and we won't make it awkward.

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can contact us first, and you also have the right to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

09

Other websites

Our site links to other websites — our checkout provider, social media, and so on. Once you're on someone else's site, their privacy policy applies, not ours. We're not responsible for how they handle your information, so it's worth a look at their policy.

10

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version always lives on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. Changes take effect once they're posted here.

Questions
